One of the perks of being a photographer, I can make the best out of most activities I do because I always have a camera (my phone, point & shoot, or SLR camera) with me. However, note the word “most” in my previous sentence. The reason why I cannot make the best out of all the activities I do is because I cannot take photos when I am actively doing something such as: surfing, biking or snowboarding. I am missing an underwater and wearable camera in my collection. On the other hand, a GoPro digital camera can fulfill both my underwater and action sports photography needs.
Therefore, the GoPro HD Hero 1080 is next on my list to purchase. Not only can you mount it on a surfboard like Brian did (see photo on the left), GoPro offers a variety of additional mounts to attach a camera on (see additional mounts at http://gopro.com/products/). I would also like to invest in GoPro’s head strap mount and chest mount harness for my first person view when I go biking, paddleboarding or snowboarding. By having a GoPro digital camera with additional mounts, I will enjoy creating entertaining action videos and photos of my adventures.
Love At First Sight
The first time I ever laid my eyes on a GoPro digital camera was at Duke’s OceanFest in Queens Beach (Waikiki), Hawaii on August 25, 2010. I was on the sand waiting for the Tandem Surf competition to begin. As the competitors paddled out, I saw a tiny digital camera mounted on the nose of their longboards. Each pair of contestants were about to film their tricks while riding waves. That moment inspired me to make my own surf videos one day.
Here is a video of Two Time Professional Woman’s World Longboard Champion, Daize Shayne Goodwin as she filmed herself surfing in Waikiki with a GoPro digital camera. Her video motivates me to create cool videos of my surf sessions.
So This is My Goal:
I want to own a GoPro HD Hero 1080 digital camera before my next trip to Oahu, Hawaii this coming October. I have surfed the waters in Waikiki and paddleboarded at the North Shore, but I have yet to document my point of view of my action packed adventures. Hopefully, I will have the opportunity to share my videos and photos with everyone once I do get a GoPro camera. I do welcome generous donations toward my camera purchase.
